Harry Potter - My favorite books

Harry Potter of J.K. Rowling is one of my most favorite stories. It is the story about Harry Potter who is a wizard, but he hadn't known it until his 11th birthday. He is the only one person whom the Dark Lord couldn't kill, and when trying to kill Harry, Lord Voldemort lost all of his power. The main content of the story is about Harry's 7 years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He has a lot friends at Hogwarts and by this school, he knows about the world which he belongs to, the world of wizards and magic. During this time, Harry also realizes that the war between good and evil hasn't ended, the Dark Lord is still alive, and he returned with more power than before. This story still doesn't have the end; the 7th book, the last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows which is going to be released in this July 21st will answer all the questions from the books before.

I like Harry Potter because J.K. Rowling created a very strange world to me, and it made me curious. This story absolutely belongs to Western culture; in our culture, magic does not appear that way. It's very interesting when you see another side of the magic from other cultures.

Moreover, the characters' lives are very similar with mine, they are teenagers like me and millions of teenagers in the world. They got our troubles, they think the way we think, they are silly like us. Sometimes, I saw a little "me" in the story, and I thought that " what the heck ? Was I this stupid ? "; it made me laugh.

Another reason why I like Harry Potter is the translator; she did very good job. I like the translated version more than the original version when I compared them; maybe it's because my English is not good enough to understand all the meanings that the author wanted to impart. There are a lot of interesting details about the Vietnamese version. E.g: where J.K. Rowling used Latin, the translator used Chinese - Vietnamese words (which was an very old language in Vietnam thousands years ago).

I also like the movies, too. I'm waiting for "Harry Porter and the Order of the Phoenix" which I think will be very exciting. Let's go to the theater !!!

Hi Loc! I'm glad that you found Hyunjin's blog and commented so that she could comment on yours.

You are both big Harry Potter fans!!

I told Hyunjin that I haven't read these books, but you two have aroused my interest in them.

I think your comment about the difference in magic was very interesting. You will learn about western culture and your own culture by thinking about differences like these.

your grade: 20/20
